Q: What is the “Summer Fun in China” program?
A: This program is designed to:
- Support FCC families through post-adoption by Chinese
cultural programs
- Engage adopted children and their parents in fun-oriented
activities that will facilitate their language acquisition and
cultural understanding
- Place adopted children in classes with native Chinese
children of similar ages in order to create an authentic
earning environment
- Provide adoptive parents wand other adults with a unique
learning experience through interacting directly with
Chinese locals
Q: Who is eligible to participate in the “Summer Fun in
China” program?
A: The eligible participants are
- FCC members
- Adopted children ages 4+
- All adoptive parents
- Friends of FCC members
- Children and adults interested in the Chinese language and
culture
Q: What is the “Buddy” program?
A: Buddy Program in China is designed for teenagers from age
11+ who are interested in learning the Chinese language and
understanding its culture and its people. It is a unique two-week
cultural immersion program that allows teenagers from the United
States and other countries to become buddies with native
Chinese teenagers. Participants may bring their own buddies from
their home countries to join them in this journey of seeking new
buddies
Q: How long will the “Summer Fun in China” and the
"Buddy" program be and when will it start?
A: Both programs last for two weeks. 2007 program is from July 2
to July 15, 2007.
Q: Can HXICE help round trip international air tickets?
A: Due to the complex process of purchasing international air
tickets, we cannot purchase tickets on your behalf. But we will be
happy to make referrals. Please contact us directly through our

Q: Can HXICE help us with domestic trips inside China
before or after program?
A: Yes. Please contact us directly through our Contact Us page to
discuss your needs.
Q: Can HXICE help us with visits to our child’s original
orphanage if we so desire?
A: Yes. Please contact us directly through our Contact Us page to
discuss your needs.
Q: Can we stay at other locations besides the program’s
designated hotel?
A: In general, we expect all families stay in a designated hotel to
ensure a smooth operation of the program. The Hotel we choose
is only a few minutes away from the School where the program is
run. Please visit the hotel’s website at www. Motel168.com. But if
you have a special need, please contact us directly through our
Contact Us page.
Q: Are we allowed to eat anywhere other than the cafeteria?
A: Yes. However, the program fees include three meals daily.
HXICE cannot refund your meal money. We urge you to be
sensitive to program schedules when you eat out.
Q: Do we need to tip waiters, bellboys, etc. during our two-
week stay?
A: Generally you are not expected to tip.
Q: Should we bring gifts for local families with whom you
will spend the weekend?
A: We encourage you to bring small gifts, especially for your child
(ren) playmate.
